AI Lecture

March 15 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Joined by guest speaker, Dr. Edmund Furse, we will be exploring an overview of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, current applications of AI, ethical challenges, the longer-term implications of AI, and theological questions raised by AI.

MORE ABOUT THE MORNING

In recent years, Christian theologians have shown a growing interest in exploring the implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This talk will be structured as follows: First, we will provide an overview of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, explaining their key concepts. Next, we will explore current applications of AI and examine some of the ethical challenges they present. Following this, we will delve into the longer-term implications of AI, including the potential development of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI). Finally, we will consider some thought-provoking theological questions raised by AI, such as the possibility of robots requesting baptism and the broader issues that such scenarios might entail.

After the lecture we will have a Q&A time open to the floor, followed by tea, coffee and pastries.
