Rooted – Day Conference

Our upcoming Day Conference is an opportunity for us to get for a day, to get to know one another better, hear from God and be ROOTED!

ReSource is an organisation working to encourage, strengthen and equip local churches for Christ-centred ministry. ReSource has partnered with SMB for our Day Conference, and one of their team members, Rev. George Fisher, will be teaching and ministering to us during the day.

What can I expect?

We will meet from 9:00am, starting with pastries, tea and coffee, and will end at 4:30pm. Lunch will be catered for and provided.

During the day there will be 4 input sessions with sung worship. We will share lunch together and there will be times of ministry where we will be able to be prayed for, pray for others, and where we will ask God to fill us afresh and equip us, as individuals and as a community.

Will children be able to attend?

Children are welcome to join us until after lunch time (ending 1:15pm).

• Ages 0-4: There is a Kids’ Corner in the church building with toys and colouring as well as a room upstairs with a livestream of the talks.
• Ages 5-11: Your child is welcome to stay with you at the church and make use of our Kids’ Corner and Upper Room, or they can join Dream Factory at St Mary’s Community Centre where there will be crafts, activities, games, worship and a short talk. The cost of Dream Factory will be covered by their Rooted ticket.
• Ages 12-13: Older children are welcome to participate in the teaching and worship at Rooted however they feel comfortable.

If your child will be joining Dream Factory we will send you further details following your booking.

Children only pay £5 for a ticket, which includes lunch. Families only pay for the first child, all additional children are free.

Who is Rev George Fisher?

Hello, George Fisher here, a Yorkshireman from Sheffield. Before being ordained in 1984 I was Head of RE in a large Comprehensive school near Rotherham. I served my curacy in Conisbrough (South Yorkshire) where we saw an amazing move of God in healing ministry and church growth. After eight years we moved to St Thomas’ Blackpool, an Urban Priority Area parish, where we experienced renewal and significant growth. In 2007 I became Lichfield Diocesan Director of Mission spending twelve years encouraging evangelism, mission and growth throughout the churches of the diocese. A vital part of this was an emphasis on church welcome and I co-authored the Everybody Welcome course with Ven Bob Jackson. I was also Chair of the Diocesan Renewal Network and have had links with ARM/ReSource for over 30 years. In July 2019 I retired and with my wife Joan moved to Eastbourne to be nearer our family – daughter Ruth, husband Tim, and two grandsons – and am enjoying my hobbies of reading, gardening but especially photography.

Mission, discipleship and the work of the Holy Spirit are inextricably linked and having tasted what happens in churches where the Spirit brings life and it pours out into the local community, I am excited to be part of ReSource’s vision of renewal and growth for all.

Our tickets are costed as follows:

Adult ticket (14+): £12.75 pp

Child ticket (0-13): £5

Families: only pay for the first child, all additional children are free. Please book them as an ‘RSVP’.
