About the role
To lead our work with Youth (11-18s) within our Church Family and local community.

Hours: 18 hours per week
Pay: £12 per hour
Length of Contract: 12 months
Paid Annual Leave: 28 days including bank holidays (pro rata for P/T)
Work-base: Church Hub or from home
Key responsibilities
- To manage, grow and encourage our teams of volunteers working with youth
- To oversee 11-18s youth activities, including Friday Youth, Tuesday Loft and our monthly Sunday lunchtime Praise Prayer and Pizza
- To create inclusive activity and teaching programmes for our youth
- To promote the welfare, health and safety of youth in all activities
- To encourage youth involvement in Sunday morning services and in our Community Centre volunteering
- To organise and lead residential youth weekends
- To develop activities to build social relationships between our youth
- To attend SMB staff meetings when requested
- To be responsible for the Youth Work budget
Skills/experience
- A heart for youth and their families
- A desire to encourage the faith of 11-18 year olds
- Experience with designing and leading creative and engaging youth activities
- An understanding of youth with additional needs
- An ability to build and inspire a team of volunteers
- Communication and organisational skills

Please note, this role requires you to be a practising Christian who displays the vision and values of St. Mary’s Church.
It also requires you to go through our Safer Recruiting Process with an enhanced DBS.
Children's Worker (0-11's)

To lead our work with children (0-11s) and their families within our Church Family and local community.

Hours: 10.5 hours per week, to include some Sunday mornings (3 hrs)
Pay: £12 per hour
Length of Contract: 12 months
Paid Annual Leave: 28 days including bank holidays (pro rata for P/T)
Work-base: Church Hub or from home
Key responsibilities
- To manage, grow and encourage our teams of volunteers working with children
- To oversee 3-11s children’s activities on a Sunday morning, including Kids Church and activities within our all-age services
- To create an inclusive teaching programme for Sunday mornings
- To promote the welfare, health and safety of children in all activities
- To support and oversee our community Toddler group leader
- To assist our Community Pastor in occasional children’s outreach activities e.g. Messy Church, Holiday Club
- To develop activities to encourage and engage parents
- To attend SMB staff meetings when requested
- To be responsible for the Children’s Work budget
