DESCRIPTION:Our upcoming Day Conference is an opportunity for us to get for a day\, to get to know one another better\, hear from God and be ROOTED! \nReSource is an organisation working to encourage\, strengthen and equip local churches for Christ-centred ministry. ReSource has partnered with SMB for our Day Conference\, and one of their team members\, Rev. George Fisher\, will be teaching and ministering to us during the day. \nWhat can I expect? \nWe will meet from 9:00am\, starting with pastries\, tea and coffee\, and will end at 4:30pm. Lunch will be catered for and provided. \nDuring the day there will be 4 input sessions with sung worship. We will share lunch together and there will be times of ministry where we will be able to be prayed for\, pray for others\, and where we will ask God to fill us afresh and equip us\, as individuals and as a community. \nWill children be able to attend? \nChildren are welcome to join us until after lunch time (ending 1:15pm). \n\nAges 0-4: There is a Kids’ Corner in the church building with toys and colouring as well as a room upstairs with a livestream of the talks.\nAges 5-11: Your child is welcome to stay with you at the church and make use of our Kids’ Corner and Upper Room\, or they can join Dream Factory at St Mary’s Community Centre where there will be crafts\, activities\, games\, worship and a short talk. The cost of Dream Factory will be covered by their Rooted ticket.\nAges 12-13: Older children are welcome to participate in the teaching and worship at Rooted however they feel comfortable.\n\nIf your child will be joining Dream Factory we will send you further details following your booking. \nChildren only pay £5 for a ticket\, which includes lunch. Families only pay for the first child\, all additional children are free. \nWho is Rev George Fisher? \nHello\, George Fisher here\, a Yorkshireman from Sheffield. Before being ordained in 1984 I was Head of RE in a large Comprehensive school near Rotherham. I served my curacy in Conisbrough (South Yorkshire) where we saw an amazing move of God in healing ministry and church growth. After eight years we moved to St Thomas’ Blackpool\, an Urban Priority Area parish\, where we experienced renewal and significant growth. In 2007 I became Lichfield Diocesan Director of Mission spending twelve years encouraging evangelism\, mission and growth throughout the churches of the diocese. A vital part of this was an emphasis on church welcome and I co-authored the Everybody Welcome course with Ven Bob Jackson. I was also Chair of the Diocesan Renewal Network and have had links with ARM/ReSource for over 30 years. In July 2019 I retired and with my wife Joan moved to Eastbourne to be nearer our family – daughter Ruth\, husband Tim\, and two grandsons – and am enjoying my hobbies of reading\, gardening but especially photography. \nMission\, discipleship and the work of the Holy Spirit are inextricably linked and having tasted what happens in churches where the Spirit brings life and it pours out into the local community\, I am excited to be part of ReSource’s vision of renewal and growth for all. \nTicket price: \nOur tickets are costed as follows: \nAdult ticket (14+): £12.75 pp \nChild ticket (0-13): £5 \nFamilies: only pay for the first child\, all additional children are free. DESCRIPTION:St Mary’s Bletchley is pleased to host this 3 week course\, which is presented by the Diocese of Oxford. \nWhat the course is about: \nThe course is focused on how to turn regular conversations into meaningful spiritual conversations. \nThrough teaching\, discussion and practise the 3 workshops will cover: \n\nA working model exploring the transition from a pastoral to a spiritual focus\nBasic active listening skills\nHow to discern and facilitate making better choices\nAccompanying the holy ground of brokenness and resistance\nPractical sessions in pairs/triads to apply teaching and skills\n\nCourse details:  \nDates: This is a 3 week course running on Tuesday 17 June\, Tuesday 24 June and Tuesday 1 July. We encourage you to attend all 3 sessions to get the most out of the course. \nTime: The course will begin at 6:30pm to 9:30pm (dinner available from 6:00pm\, details below) \nVenue: St Mary’s Community Centre\, corner of Warwick Road and Conway Crescent (MK3 6AR) \nDinner: \nWe realise that many people will be heading to the course straight from work\, uni etc\, so we will provide a simple dinner at 6:00pm. DESCRIPTION:Joined by guest speaker\, Dr. Edmund Furse\, we will be exploring an overview of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning\, current applications of AI\, ethical challenges\, the longer-term implications of AI\, and theological questions raised by AI. \nMORE ABOUT THE MORNING \nIn recent years\, Christian theologians have shown a growing interest in exploring the implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This talk will be structured as follows: First\, we will provide an overview of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning\, explaining their key concepts. Next\, we will explore current applications of AI and examine some of the ethical challenges they present. Following this\, we will delve into the longer-term implications of AI\, including the potential development of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI). Finally\, we will consider some thought-provoking theological questions raised by AI\, such as the possibility of robots requesting baptism and the broader issues that such scenarios might entail. \nAfter the lecture we will have a Q&A time open to the floor\, followed by tea\, coffee and pastries. \nMORE ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER \nDr Edmund Furse has worked in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cognitive Science for over 40 years. He is the author of 20 published academic papers. His first paper\, The Theology of Robots\, was published in 1986 but he is also known for his research into the AI of mathematics with his Mathematics Understander (MU) system. His recent work has been on understanding human imitation learning and this led to the setting up of his company Imitation Ltd. Furse worked for GEC Telecommunications and subsequently in the universities of Warwick\, Sheffield and Glamorgan. He has four university degrees and is qualified in the fields of Mathematics\, Computer Science\, Psychology and Education. Furse is a practicing Christian and currently worships in both Catholic and Anglican churches. \nEveryone is welcome.
