The Alpha Course is open to everyone interested in discovering what Christianity is about. It’s relaxed, low key, friendly and fun. It’s a place where people can confidently come and ask questions, delve into issues and look for answers together. The Alpha course is designed primarily for those people who aren’t churchgoers but is open to anyone who would like to attend.

St Mary’s runs three adult Alpha courses each year, usually coinciding with the school terms, and often in partnership with other local churches. Occasionally there is Alpha for young people, or a course aimed at specific groups, eg young mums, or those retired and in later years.

The course runs over 12 weekly sessions, and also includes a half-day on a Saturday or Sunday. The course may begin with a meal or light refreshments, and includes a talk followed by discussion.
