Following Jesus ever more closely

The Shed

shed1Shed: Men’s Ministry - a place for men to go!

Men need different places and occasions to feel comfortable to ‘be themselves’. In a church context that is no different, so we try and provide a range of activities and opportunities for men to feel relaxed and more open to share matters of faith, as well as everything else men often don’t talk about!  Sunday services are often limited in terms of quality time and conversations, so we try to offer additional occasions for men to meet socially, as well as spiritually, and forge better friendships which over time will become significant in different ways.

Here are some of the things that come under the Shed ‘umbrella’:
shed 2
Saturday breakfast gatherings, sometimes with a guest speaker, but often simply giving time for men to meet and get to know each other better.

Arranging attendance at football or rugby matches, and other special events of interest to men.

Social outings or meals, eg golf days, snooker evenings, meals at a local restaurant, etc.

A weekly men’s (early morning) prayer meeting!  Tuesday’s, 6.30-7.30am at the Church. (30 minutes of tea, coffee and chat; 30 minutes of prayer for whatever we feel led to pray for.)

Support, encouragement and fellowship though the church’s existing small groups and pastoral care structures.

Informal mentoring through on-going relationships and friendships that naturally exist or develop over time.
